Rub-Off Black Looks WeirdNov 16, 2009
By Ross W. Skilling

It's odd to me that taller boots, made of more material, but simply with this "rub-off" color style are many tens of dollars cheaper than shorter, and plain "black" boots from the same brand. Supply and demand, I guess.
The boots are fine fit-wise, as I've come to expect (rely on?) from Demonia, but the rub-off coloring...it looks like portions of the boots were spritzed with white spray paint. I *guess* it sort-of has that "aged" look...in the right light. But after only a week of wear the shoes have scuffed in spots leaving plain white streaks.
Well, at least they look *legitimately* aged, now...

utility and styleSep 05, 2009
By Nathan T. Peirce Steel toe. Metal plate with Demonia logo and screws in the bottom. Stylish. Good thick treads.
Boot laces are the perfect length -- long enough unless maybe you're big-boned or particularly muscular I would guess, but not with a lot of extra laces flopping around, which I like. If they are the wrong length for you, then you might consider not lacing the top two or more eyelets and instead wrap the laces once around the calf and tie them in front. I like to do that anyway. Looks good I think and a little easier to get on and off that way.
On the inside, it seems to be relatively free of spots to give you rubs, but as usual it's not padded so you'll want a good thick pair of long black socks to avoid rubs if you'll be wearing them long or doing anything other than casually strolling.
There is no loop on the tongue, which might be a good thing in this case. It seems to crinkle a lot, but not really slouch, so I don't find it to be a problem.
